Eyelash Extensions

For your convenience, our most common customer questions are answered below, should you need further advice, please send an email to [email protected] and we will respond within 24 – 48 hours.

What is the difference between Volume lash sets, Classic lash sets & Mega sets?

Classic lash sets consists of one lash extensions applied to one natural lash. Volume lash sets are the latest trend in lash extensions where 2-6 ultra fine lashes are attached to one natural lash. Mega sets are 7-20 fine lashes handmade into a bouquet, virtually weightless.

What are eyelash extensions?

Not to be confused with the self-stick strip falsies or individual clusters of lashes knotted together that are a single-event accessory, these semi-permanent extensions are glued one by one onto the natural lash. A single eyelash extension or fan is applied to your own natural eyelash to achieve a beautiful full, long set of lashes that are light weight and can be natural or dramatic.

Should I be careful who applies the eyelash extensions and should they be trained?

Absolutely, we cannot stress the importance of choosing an eyelash technician who has been trained by a qualified company with certification. There are many eyelash extension technicians who are claiming to have been professionally trained but actually have been self taught via the internet. At I Candy Lash & Brow Boutique,LLC., we are seeing more and more distressed ladies contacting us to repair their lashes. Please do your research thoroughly and ask many questions. In the state of Nevada you must be a licensed Cosmetologist or Esthetician to perform lash extensions. Be sure your technician is certified by a lash extension company as well and working inside a reputable salon, not a residence.

Who wears eyelash extensions?

You don’t have to be a celebrity or model to wear eyelash extensions. Normal everyday ladies love eyelash extensions and can’t bear to be without them.

How are eyelash extensions applied?

A single natural eyelash is isolated with lash tweezers and an extension is adhered to your own natural eyelash approximately 1mm from the eyelid so neither the adhesive or the lash has contact with the skin.

How long does the application take?

The procedure will take approximately 2-3 hours for a full set and fills approximately 1 hour. It is a meticulous procedure that requires patience and concentration so therefore it should not be rushed so that clients can leave with a perfect set of lashes. You relax with your eyes closed and there is no pain as this is a non-invasive procedure. Often clients are so relaxed they fall asleep.

Can I do eyelash extensions myself?

No. Eyelash extensions can only be applied by a trained professional.

How are the lower lashes held down?

At I Candy Lash Boutique it is important that our clients are comfortable therefore, we use soft under eye pads specifically designed for eyelash extensions.

Do eyelash extensions make my own lashes fall out?

No, this is a myth. At I Candy Lash & Brow Boutique, LLC., many of our clients have been with us for years and have consistently had extensions applied with no breakage, damage or lash loss. It is important to have your lash extensions applied by a qualified technician who uses quality product. Your eyelashes naturally shed and the extension will shed with the natural lash. Pulling or touching lash extensions may cause premature shedding and damage to your natural lashes.

Can I still wear eye makeup?

Yes. All makeup is fine except mascara. You may wear eyelash extension safe eyeliner and eyeshadow as usual, but remember to remove makeup with an oil free product. If you wear mascara on the extensions it will break down the bond of the glue and they may shed prematurely.

Can I wear mascara?

We recommend all our clients not to wear mascara. You will wake up looking great and will not have to fuss with mascara. That is the best part of wearing extensions! You may wear mascara on your bottom lashes if you desire.

Can I curl or perm eyelash extensions?

Lash extensions are already curled so there will no need for a lash curler or a perm. This would cause significant damage.

How long do they last?

Approximately 2-3 weeks with proper care. Remember, this is a semi-permanent beauty procedure. Beware of those who promise “permanent” extensions that last for 2+ months. If your hair and nails grow quickly then that may indicate that your lashes also are growing, shedding and renewing themselves quickly. You may find that your lashes will not last as long as someone whose hair growth is slow. Your lifestyle will make a difference on how long they last. Eyelash extensions will not last for three months without regular maintenance.

I had eyelash extensions applied a few days ago and a few lashes
have fallen out – why?

The natural lash has a growth cycle and unfortunately it is hard to determine which lash is ready to fall out. Each day we can lose 3-5 natural lashes, but often they fall out unnoticed. When eyelash extensions are applied we are more aware when they shed because they are longer, darker and thicker. If you sleep on your stomach with your face on the pillow or on your side you may notice the lashes may not last as well as the other side.

What are fills, why do I need them and how often do I need

Fills are to replace extensions that have fallen out due to the natural shedding of the eyelash. You will require fills every 2 or 3 weeks to achieve a consistently full fresh set of lashes. We take the time to remove grown out extensions, clean and prime your lashes before we begin.

Can I open my eyes during the procedure?

No, your eyes must remain closed during the entire length of service.

Do eyelash extensions come in different types, curls, color, lengths and thickness?

Yes. I Candy Lash & Brow Boutique, LLC., specializes in eyelash extensions and has a variety of products to match everyone’s desired look. Unlike other companies, we understand that eyelash extensions are not one size fits all. We listen to our client’s request, but we also have to keep in mind the health of your natural lashes. If you have a specific request or look please discuss this with your eyelash extension technician on the day of your appointment.

Are the eyelash extensions glued to my skin?

No, it is adhered approximately 1mm from the eyelid on your natural lash.

Is the eyelash adhesive and adhesive remover safe?

Yes, absolutely in the right hands of a trained and experienced technician. Beware of untrained technicians who claim they have been professionally trained. We specialize in eyelash extensions and we take great care to ensure that the adhesive and adhesive remover does not come in contact with the skin or eyes. The glue applied at I Candy is a high quality, fast drying glue. As glue is being applied around the delicate eye area it is important to only have eyelash extensions applied by a trained and qualified eyelash extensionist.

Are eyelash extensions suitable for everyone?

No, they are not. You must have natural lashes for lash extensions to be applied. Chemotherapy patients may not have enough natural lashes for extensions to be applied. People who have extreme allergies may not be a good candidate either because of excess watering and constant rubbing of the eye area. In rare cases, a client may suffer from Trichotillomania, a condition where people pull out their hair or eyelashes. Someone with very curly lashes will not be able to hold an extension. They will not adhere properly and shed prematurely. If you have certain under lying health conditions, your lashes may be brittle and weak and unable to hold an extension. Consult with your technician if you have any concerns regarding these contraindications.

Why should I get eyelash extensions?
It will cut your beauty routine time down in the mornings

No running or streaking mascara
Lasts from 2-3 weeks with proper maintenance
No pain – non-invasive procedure
Safe in showers, swimming pools and saunas
Eyelashes will appear longer, fuller and darker
Your eyes will look bigger, more defined & gorgeous even with no make-up Great for people who wear contact lenses
Perfect for special occasions or everyday people Ladies who can’t wear mascara

How do I care for my eyelash extensions?

Do not use a steam room or sauna for the first 48 hours to allow glue to cure

Be gentle with your new lashes. Avoid rubbing your eyes and do not pick or play with your lashes

Resist the temptation to touch or pull at your new lashes as this will pull out your own natural lashes

When drying your face do not rub instead blot your face and apply a gently pressure to your closed eyes then allow the extensions to dry naturally. Do not use a hair dryer.

Do not perm or curl the extensions using a clamp eyelash curlers
Avoid wearing mascara as this will lessen the life of your extensions

Do not use eye make-up remover that contains any type of oil products such as petroleum

Do keep the eye area clean. This is very important. Some ladies love their lashes so much they don’t even want to get them wet at all. Avoiding proper hygiene can result in an eye infection whether wearing eyelash extensions or not and may cause blepharitis

Try and sleep on your back to avoid crushing your extensions in the pillow and use a silk pillowcase.

**The golden rule for wearing eyelash extensions is the less you touch them the longer they will last. However, it is important to keep the eye area clean.

Can the eyelash extensions be removed?

Yes, at any time for any reason they can be removed however there will be a removal charge. The extensions are easily removed by using a glue remover and will cause no harm to your natural lashes.

I had my lashes applied somewhere else and they are a disaster with excessive amounts of glue clumping my lashes together. Can I have the lashes removed and not get new eyelash extensions?

Sadly eyelash extensions are being applied by people who have had no training or have not been trained properly. I Candy is always happy to remove lashes that have been applied elsewhere without applying new lashes, however there will be a removal charge.

I had eyelash extensions applied somewhere else and I am
unhappy with them can they be fixed at I Candy?

At I Candy we prefer not to work over your previous technicians work. Our new client fill requests almost always end up with our client needing a new set because the work done previously is impossible to work over due to too much glue and improper technique. Our new policy is we no longer accept new client fills. If you’ve had lash extensions applied by another technician and are not happy, please schedule a new full set. We will soak them off and apply a new set properly. Contact I Candy to discuss the options of having the extensions removed before your appointment to have a new set applied. If your eyes are red and sore from the incorrectly applied eyelash extensions that were applied elsewhere, we would advise resting your eyes from extensions for a few days to a couple weeks before having a professional set

What should I do before my eyelash extension appointment?

Please arrive to your appointment with no mascara and do not perm or curl your eyelashes before your appointment. If you wear contact lenses please bring your contact lens case as your lenses will need to be removed.

I’m not brave to leave the house without makeup. Can I wear
foundation, eyeliner and eye shadow to my appointment?

Yes, it is fine to wear foundation, eyeliner and eye shadow however your lower eyeliner maybe a little smudged from wearing the under eye anti wrinkle eye pads.

I Candy Lash & Brow Boutique, LLC., keeps the integrity and health of your natural lashes in mind when meeting new clients wants and their expectations. As we want all of our clients to be happy with the end result and want to give you the look you desire, our experience has shown some people have unrealistic expectations. Eyelash extensions are not for everyone. Lash extensions might be unsuccessful if the clients natural eyelashes are too brittle, unhealthy, or weak to support them. This can be due to age, disease, hormonal changes, medication or poor nutrition.

We are devoted to doing lashes the correct and healthy way, not just the quick way. Book a free lash consultation online and we can explain everything in person!

MICROBLADING (Manual Hair Strokes Only)

For your convenience, our most common customer questions are answered below, should you need further advice, please send an email to [email protected] and we will respond within 24 – 48 hours.

Q: What is Microblading?

A: Microblading also known as microstroking, micropigmentation, eyebrow embroidery, eyebrow feathering, and 3D eyebrows is a semi-permanent tattoo that is created by using a manual tool with numerous fine needles to create hair like strokes throughout the brow. The strokes are then maskedover with a pigment. This technique does not go as deep into the skins layers as a normal tattoo and is therefore considered semi- permanent. If you have blonde, sparse or traumatized (over tweezed) brows, this microblading technique is for you.  This treatment is a two part process.

Q: How long will it last?

A: Cosmetic tattoo results vary from person to person, as a general guide, it usually lasts up to 12 months or longer before requiring a color boost. After your initial session, a touch-up is required 6-8 weeks later to address any areas that faded or to add a few strokes.  The duration depends on your skin type, lifestyle and exposure to certain elements, which can cause the ink to fade faster than others. Clients with oily skin, increased sun exposure, hormone imbalances, use of Retin A, frequent skin treatments containing AHA’s and some medications will cause the area to fade faster, and in some cases prevent the hair strokes from staying at all. This will be determined at your Microblading consultation. Some guests may need a small touch-up sooner due to the above.

Q: Can I go to work the next day?

A: Yes. The procedure will not hinder you from going to work. However, there might be some redness and tenderness & strict cleaning/after care is required so depending on the nature of your work it may be better to plan ahead.

Q: Is this a two step process?

A: Yes.  Microblading fades and some strokes may even disappear during healing.  In 6-8 weeks we address these issues and reinforce any areas that had retention issues.  This is normal and is part of the healing process.  A touch-up price is not included in the initial price.  There is an additional charge.

Q: Does it hurt?

A: Slightly, depending on the individual’s pain tolerance. Anaesthetics are used to numb the treatment area throughout the procedure to keep you comfortable. Slight discomfort may be experienced at the beginning of the treatment, but then is mostly painless throughout the rest of the treatment. Before your appointment (please read thoroughly through Pre Care instructions) – it is important to avoid smoking, caffeine, alcohol/aspirin/fish oil capsules, as these will thin the blood and effect the numbing cream.  Not following pre care instructions may result in a canceled appointment.  All deposits are non-refundable.

Q: How will my eyebrows appear after the treatment?

A: Immediately after Microblading the color may darker than when the skin has healed in 7 to 14 day’s time. The color will lighten up to 40%. The size of the treated area will shrink by approximately 15% and your new brows will look much more natural in appearance over the next 4 weeks with softer appearance.

Q: What do I need to do for aftercare?

A: We cannot stress enough how important it is to follow through with the aftercare 100% to achieve the ultimate result. You will be provided with an aftercare sheet with the clear instructions of what you will need to do. If it’s not listed on the aftercare sheet, do NOT do it.
